Books for beginners
-
Write your own horoscope
“Write your own horoscope” by Jane Struthers is available in both English and Dutch and is aimed at the novice astrology enthusiast. The book covers everything from the basics to planetary transits in a brief, but concise manner. It also highlights themes such as 'family and friends' and 'work and career'. In addition, I absolutely love the way the book is designed and illustrated. Especially the watercolor illustrations are wonderful!

You were born for this
“You were born for this” is written by the beloved astrologer Chani Nicholas. The book can be viewed as an introduction to astrology and mainly contains extensive, in-depth information about your Sun, Moon and Rising placements. It kind of reads like a novel and is extremely well written. You will gain a lot of powerful insights about yourself for sure! This book is even a great resource for professional astrologers.

Astrology for real relationships
Jessica Lanyadoo is one of my favorite astrologers. Her book “Astrology for real relationships” extensively covers all the planetary placements in the context of all kinds of relationships so that you gain more insight into yourself and your loved ones. Jessica is also very passionate about inclusivity and it shows: chosen family and non-monogamous relationships are also covered. Moreover, this book is very beginner-friendly. Since the wonderful illustrations and creative layout are part of the reading experience, I don't recommend the ebook, but the paperback. P.S. This is not a book about synastry.

Astrology
“Astrology: using the wisdom of the stars in your everyday life” is available in both English and Dutch and is written for the more serious astrology enthusiast. This thick book goes into great depth and in addition to the basics, the book even covers a short history of astrology and different types of transits. However, everything is covered step by step and very comprehendible. The content is enhanced by infographics and a dynamic layout. The design and layout are not my personal taste, but I definitely wish I had this book when I first started learning astrology years ago.
Apps
-
Mystic Mondays
Who needs a tarot deck when you’ve got Mystic Mondays?! On this app you can pull one card a day and that’s exactly what I do every day. The colorful illustrations are wonderful and the interpretations always hit home. I especially love the “Library” function where you can look up the meaning of any card and the overview of all the cards that I’ve pulled that month. But honestly, there are too many cool features to list here. I absolutely adore this app!

Chani
Move over Co-Star, Chani is the best astrology app out there! Chani is the creation of the beloved astrologer Chani Nicholas and her queer- and feminist led team. The free version of the app provides highly accurate and personalized information about the transits of the current moment. While the app is worth downloading for that alone, the paid version contains even more: over 100 affirmations and meditations, extensive information about your birth chart using Whole Sign Houses, rituals, altar suggestions, journal prompts and your transits for the upcoming year. The content is playful and sometimes a bit cryptic for my taste, but Chani is forgiven. Last but not least, the app distributes 5% of the total revenue to survivors of gender-based violence.

TimePassages
TimePassages may not be the most beautifully designed app out there, but it sure is a very decent astrology app. It’s like a digital astrological encyclopedia that is used by beginners, as well as professional astrologers. You can check out the current planetary positions both visually and textually. A concise and clear description has been written for each current planetary position and aspect, among other things. The same goes for your birth chart and ALL its aspects and placements. It’s really incredible that all the information in the app is available for free.
Podcasts

The Astrology Podcast
The Astrology Podcast is hosted by the well-recognized astrologer Chris Brennan. This show is one of the best free resources available to learn (traditional) astrology, period. There are over three hundred episodes which feature introductions to important astrological concepts, theories, and techniques, interviews with leading astrologers, monthly forecast episodes and so much more. I recommend watching the podcast on Youtube as charts are regularly discussed, but the podcast is also available on Spotify and other platforms.

Ghost of a Podcast
Ghost of a Podcast is hosted by one of my favorite astrologers and psychic mediums Jessica Lanyadoo. You can tune into her weekly podcast every Sunday. She starts each show reading a listener question, providing some of the best advice you’ll ever hear for people’s very real and very relatable life problems. She finishes each episode with an astrological forecast for the coming week. Jessica is the astro mom you wish you had in a super caring but “no-bullshit” way. She’s passionate about inclusivity and social justice, and shares her wisdom with a lot of wit and humour.
-
Cosmic Guidance For All
Cosmic Guidance For All is hosted by astrologer and community builder Kirah Tabourn. She engages in enriching conversations with astrologers and mystics from all over the world. Together they cover a myriad of different conversation topics, fundamental teachings and forecasts. My favorite episode is “420” where the birth charts of famous cannabis smokers were discussed.

The Astrology Hub Podcast
Astrology Hub is an online astrology platform founded by Amanda ‘Pua’ Walsh. She’s not an astrologer, but has a gift for bringing people together. She hosts the weekly Astrology Hub Podcast where she invites astrologers to talk about astrological forecasts, spiritual guidance, navigating life and much more. Regular on the show is world class astrologer Rick Levine who always knows how to articulate his astrological wisdom beautifully. The podcast is available on Spotify and other platforms, but I prefer to watch it via Youtube.
